Process Center

The Process Center is a common-use facility for the study of advanced materials and devices. Advanced equipments for crystal growth, processing, fablication, and characterization are installed in the clean rooms. Besides the research activities by the RCAST staff, the facilities can be jointly utilized also by many scientists in other institutions.

Processing equipments in the clean room (class 10000)
Lithography equipments in the clean room (class 1000)
Gas-source molecular beam epitaxy (GSMBE) system for III-V compounds.

Research Center for Design and Systhesis of Biofunctional Molecules

Design and synthesis of biofunctional molecules.
  1. Structural modification of natural biomolecules to achieve new functions.
  2. Synthesis of entirely new artificial biofunctional molecules.
This program was established by "Large-scale Research Projects under the New Program System" of Mombusho in 1993.

High Resolution Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (500MHz)

Animal Experiment Center Equipped with Bio-clean System

A research center for analyzing and manipulating animals and biological systems, which is located in 57th building and maintained by Biomedical Devices Lab. The center includes an animal experiment lab., a bio-clean lab., a cytophysiology lab., a bio-laser lab., a micromachine lab., and a small animal room. Many equipments for measuring and manipulating biological systems such as, organelle, cells, tissues and organs in vivo have been installed and trial production and evaluation of micromachines are also possible.

Micromachine lab. (A set of silicone process system are equipped.)
Cytophysiology lab. (Many micro manipulation equipment are installed.)

Electron Microscope Laboratory

The Electron Microscope Laboratory consists of a high resolution transmission electron microscope (200keV) and several thinning machines. The facility is shared among the different laboratories.

Wind Tunnels

RCAST has the following wind tunnel facilities: 3 meter wind tunnel, three-dimensional flow visualization wind tunnel, atmospheric turbulence wind tunnel, and running test facility.

3meter wind tunnel (Testing of yacht sail for the America's Cup)
Three-dimensional flow visualization wind tunnel (Flight of a dragonfly)

Special Laboratory (Gifu)
