Research Interests

A research objective of Intelligent System is to mine useful information using large amounts of data acquired from various sources, which is abstracted into knowledge fruitful to human beings and social systems. We processing of huge amounts of data obtained by Earth remote sensing satellites and planetary surveyors and the development of robust hardware for satellites are research themes for us.
(1) High accuracy geometric processing
State estimation of satellite altitude leads to a high-accuracy geometric data processing. A model of differences in digital elevation created through stereo observation has been applied to earthquake disaster regions.
Moreover, a spacebourne sensor system for small satellites has been developed, with various functions to obtain information on the surface at the ground.
(2) High accuracy radiometric processing
For the utilization of hyperspectral sensors, a new algorithm to improve spatial-spectral properties has been developed, and can be used to extract information on target materials. In addition, a sensor model has been constructed to improve the radiometric performance of Earth observation sensors. Such software for Earth/planet remote sensors is used in data processing centers.
