The Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), The University of Tokyo, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SIGNAL Group, a prominent non-governmental and non-partisan think tank headquartered in Ramat Gan, Israel. Under this MOU, the Economic Security Intelligence Lab (ESIL) at RCAST will collaborate with SIGNAL Group, which is one of Israel’s few policy institutions specializing in China and the Indo-Pacific and brings together leading experts in international policy. The partnership will focus on joint research in economic security, such as: studies on the potential for policy cooperation between Japan, Israel, and the broader Middle East; analyses related to critical and emerging technology cooperation; and research on the status of and countermeasures against disinformation and influence operations in Japan and the Middle East. In addition, the collaboration will include researcher exchanges, co-hosting international symposiums, and co-authored publications to enhance international outreach. Youth-oriented programs will also be developed to cultivate the next generation of experts. Through these initiatives, the partnership seeks to deepen grassroots academic and policy research, enhance Japan’s presence in the Middle East, and contribute to mutual understanding and the further development of bilateral relations between Japan and Israel. |
