No Glutamine? No Problem!
Study Shows How a Chemical Lets Starving Cancer Thrive

The rapid growth of tumors in the body can often leave cancer cells starved for nutrients. Cancer cells can adapt and grow under these conditions, but the mechanisms that allow this are poorly understood. Researchers at RCAST identified a chemical, PEtn, that accumulates in glutamine-starved cancer cells and allows them to thrive. The discovery may eventually lead to new treatment approaches in cancer.

International conference on “the Strategic Rivalries in the Middle East” which will be held at the RCAST, the University of Tokyo in cooperation with Institute of Global Security and Defense Studies. This conference is a joint project of researchers and practitioners who are affiliated with both institutes. This conference will tackle with the issue of the risks and opportunities in the new security dynamics in the Middle East in the context of the growing sense and perception of U.S. withdrawal from the region.
