  • Lecture featuring Amb. Rahm Emanuel on March 27: “U.S.-Japan Alliance and Economic Security: Promoting an Anti-Coercion Coalition”

    The Economic Security Program at the Rule-making Strategies Division of Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) will host a lecture featuring Rahm Emanuel, U.S. Ambassador to Japan.

    Languages:
    Japanese and English (Lectures will be given in English, but simultaneous interpretation will be provided for those who need it).

    Cooperation in U.S.-Japan relations has progressed in a variety of areas, not limited to the field of security but including diplomacy, economics and values.

    In furthering the relationship, the Economic Security Program of the Rule-making Strategies Division at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) will host a symposium on the U.S.-Japan alliance and economic security, welcoming Rahm Emanuel, U.S. Ambassador to Japan. Amb. Emanuel's keynote speech will focus on “economic coercion,” which is expected to be one of the key themes at the G7 meeting in May 2023.

    He will also discuss with Mr. Akira Igata, Project Lecturer at RCAST, how cooperation can be possible to address economic and security challenges facing the U.S. and Japan, including responses to “economic coercion.”
