Religion and Global Security Division of RCAST, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology of the University of Tokyo, is pleased to invite you to a lecture by Mr Daniyar Kosnazarov and Dr Farkhod Tolipov on Kazakhstan’s and Uzbekistan’s perspectives on China-related issues in Central Asia including Belt & Road Initiative (BRI).

Speakers:
Daniyar Kosnazarov, co-founder of the thinktank “Bilig Brains,” based in Almaty, Kazakhstan
Farkhod Tolipov, head of the thinktank “Knowledge Caravan,” based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Moderator: Satoshi Ikeuchi, Professor of Religion and Global Security, RCAST, the University of Tokyo

Contents: Topics to be covered during the lecture and discussions include:
- China’s political and security presence in the Central Asia region
- Kazakhstan’s connectivity projects and BRI
- Kazakhstan’s and Uzbekistan’s balancing acts among external powers
- Reality of extremist threats in the region and external powers’ intents
- Central Asian states’ newer initiatives to enhance mutual coordination
