Prof. Boaz Ganor is the Dean of the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy & Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC), Herzliya, Israel. He holds the Ronald Lauder Chair for Counter-Terrorism and is the founder and Executive Director of the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) of IDC.

He has served as an advisor and/or a consultant to the Israeli Counter-Terrorism Bureau, the Israeli National Security Council, and the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

His book of comprehensive theorization of counter-terrorism, "The Counter-Terrorism Puzzle – A Guide for Decision Makers" (Transaction Publishers, 2005), is used as a textbook in universities worldwide and has been translated into many languages, including into Japanese in 2018.

His recent book, "Global Alert: The Rationality of Modern Islamist Terrorism and the Challenge to the Liberal Democratic World" (Columbia University Press, 2015), cautioned about the exploitation of liberal-democratic institutions and values by terrorist organizations to further their goals. In this book, Prof. Ganor advances an international doctrine for governing military operations between state and nonstate actors as part of a new type of armed conflict termed "multidimensional warfare."
