It is my very real honor and pleasure to be elected as a Fellows of AACR. I have had numerous and long-lasting interactions with AACR, wherein one of my most memorable activities was serving as Co-chair of the International Affairs Committee between 2002 and 2008. At the time, I discussed often about how the AACR organization should engage in cancer research activities worldwide and took initiatives to forge several collaborations, such as organizing a joint symposia in Arabic countries. I also learned a lot during the Committee’s meetings with invited guests, such as CEOs of pharmaceutical companies. Now, at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, where I strive to conduct good research on cancer and immunity, I feel there is onus is on me to work hard in fostering the next generation scientists by taking advantage of what I have accumulated during my past research activities and experiences, including and especially, at the AACR and other international organizations. Finally, I thank you everyone in our Center for their continuous and warm support of our laboratory headed by Hideyuki Yanai.
