  • Associate Professor Ikuro KASUGA received the JSWE Paper Award 2021 of Japan Society on Water Environment on June 1, 2022. This award will be given to JSWE members who have published papers which are based on a series of excellent research and technologies in the field of water environment.

    About the research
Biodegradable organic matter in drinking water can cause microbial regrowth which may give an adverse impact on hygiene and human health. The composition of biodegradable organic matter remains unknown. JSWE Paper Award 2021 was given to the following paper published on Water Research. This paper revealed the molecular-level composition of biodegradable organic matter in drinking water using high-resolution mass spectrometry.

    Journal Article
Kasuga, I., Suzuki, M., Kurisu, F., and Furumai, H, ”Molecular-level characterization of biodegradable organic matter causing microbial regrowth in drinking water by non-target screening using Orbitrap mass spectrometry”, Water Research, April 24, 2020., doi: 10.1016/j.watres.2020.116130.別ウィンドウで開く
