On the occasion of the State Visit to Japan of Mr. Francois Hollande, President of the French Republic, Ms. Genevieve Fioraso, Minister for Higher Education and Research, stopped at Komaba Campus to visit the ""Laboratoire International Associe"" (or ""LIA"") NextPV.
The French delegation included Ms. Fioraso, Prof. Alain Fuchs, Executive President of CNRS, Prof. Bernard Bigot, Chairman of CEA, Prof. Michel de Mathelin, Director of iCube, and Dr. Denis Le Bihan, Director of NeuroSpin.
Prof. Masashi Haneda, the Vice President of the University of Tokyo, welcomed Ms. Fioraso with a few words in French. Next, the two Directors, Prof. Dominique Collard and Prof. Teruo Fujii gave the presentation of LIMMS.
Lastly, Prof. Pierre Destruel introduced the LIA, first by answering the question ""Why NextPV?"" then by showing its structure and its scientific objectives in the fields of organic/hybrid and Ultra High Efficiency solar cells. In his conclusion, he discussed future plans concerning the opening of NextPV to other sources of renewable energies.
The oral presentation was followed by a tour of Prof. Segawa's Laboratory, dedicated to the development of organic/inorganic hybrid solar cells using polymers, quantum dots, and so on.
At the end of the visit, Ms. Fioraso expressed her gratitude for the reception and congratulated all the researchers for the high quality of the collaboration between Japan and France.
