The 2nd LIA NextPV International Workshop

  • RCAST Report

November 13, 2013

The second LIA NextPV International Workshop was held on November 13 at RCAST and was an indicator of the excellent collaboration between the Japanese and French scientists on their leading-edge research on solar cells.

20 French researchers from 12 different labs came to Japan to participate in this workshop, to meet the research partners of RCAST, and to make visits to other Japanese universities.

The first session of the workshop was devoted to discussing the results obtained in the framework of NextPV during the year 2013 and to defining the research agenda for the coming year in the fields of organic, hybrid, and high-efficiency solar cells. After lunch, visits to Okada-Lab and Segawa-Lab allowed the French scientists to learn about the experimental equipment available at RCAST and to further the scientific discussions with an enthusiastic exchange of detailed questions and answers regarding the experiments. Finally, the third session was dedicated to the program of widening the activities of the LIA.

This workshop is held every year on a rotational basis between Japan and France. The University of Bordeaux will host the next one, which is scheduled for the end of 2014.

This event was followed, on November 14, by the ""FIRST Project - LIA NextPV Joint Workshop on Organic Photovoltaics"". This workshop addressed photovoltaic cells studied jointly by Segawa-Lab and Bordeaux University on one side, in the framework of NextPV, and with other Japanese Universities on the other side, associated with RCAST within the ""Funding Program for World-Leading Innovative R&D on Science and Technology (FIRST Project)"" supported by JSPS.
