RCAST held Responsible Research Practices Training

  • RCAST Report

June 10, 2015

On Wednesday, June 10, RCAST held responsible research practices training for the faculty and research staff.

“Guidelines for Responding to Misconduct in Research” (revised by MEXT on August 26, 2014) requires academic and research institutes to periodically provide researchers with training on responsible conduct of research and for researchers to attend such training. In this recent training session, we invited Emeritus Professor Makoto Asashima, a director of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and served as Chairman of the Editing Committee of the research ethics educational material, “For the Sound Development of Science – the Attitude of a Conscientious Scientist” (March 2015), as the lecturer. He delivered a lecture titled “Key Points in Research Activities and Prevention of Misconduct in Research.” His lecture drew active discussion on how to improve research ethics and prevent misconduct in research, which made this training really meaningful.
