Project Associate Professor Satoshi OHARA received the Best Paper Award of the Institute of LCA

Project Associate Professor Satoshi Ohara (Renewable Fuel Global Network) was received the Best Paper Award of the Institute of Life Cycle Assessment, Japan on March 10, 2020.
The Institute of Life Cycle Assessment, Japan (ILCAJ) aims to utilize LCA and life cycle thinking as basic concepts for constructing a sustainable society and utilize those findings for decision making. The ILCAJ Best Paper Award selects outstanding papers issued from ILCAJ as well as other affiliated journals and honors the authors.

In receiving the award, Ohara said : "We hope that the knowledge of scale-up impact and life cycle assessment will be useful for the social implementation of renewable energy."

About the research

In this research, we created a yield prediction statistical model for system design regarding plant resource utilization in consideration of meteorological factors. We applied it to the sugar/ethanol combined production system from sugar cane. The paper is published in the Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, Japan, 14(4), 302-318 (2018).
