Research Interests
Combining elements in the periodic table can create a great variety of materials. Some become metals, and others become semiconductors. Some become magnets or superconductors. The method to quantitatively calculate such various physical properties of materials without introducing any empirical parameters is called the first-principles calculation. Based on the first-principles approach, we explore fascinating problems in solid-state physics. We are interested in not only explaining and reproducing experimental facts but also designing or predicting new materials. We are also actively working on developing new methods based on density functional theory or many-body Green’s function theory. Our research interests include materials with promising possibilities as functional materials and those closely related to new concepts in condensed matter theory.
