Research Interests

For last 30 years in Heisei era, I have been developing design research and activities mainly in Italy and Europe. In the flow of Greece, Rome, Florence and Milan in the Renaissance, in Europe, Design has been regarded as an act of trying to solve the problems of all "things" necessary for society and our life and giving shape to all "things". The history of Design in Europe can be said to be the history of Design-led "things" development and innovation. On the other hand, in Japan, the history of Design is considered to be the act of giving a Design to differentiate products, from the industrialization after World War II.

In our Design Laboratory, we develop to Design various products from traditional technology products, industrial products, handicraft products, to advanced technology products, in collaboration with international companies.

We comprehensively Design a wide range of products, from large spaces to palms, various sizes, typologies, materials, and manufacturing methods, from large spaces to interiors and product packaging. In addition to Designing the shape of the "thing" itself, we also Design the relationships and stories that can occur there. We Design the ever-changing relationships between people, people, and people and society. Through development experience in a wide range of fields and interaction with experts in various fields, we will discover new perspectives on individual “objects” and "things", give them new meanings, and aim to solve new problems.

500 years after the Renaissance, the development of Western thought and Human-centered Science and Technology has made a great contribution to the development of our social life, but at the same time, it has various effects on the social environment and natural environment in which we live. It is causing the distortion of environmental destruction and the danger of lack of humanity in the AI society. The world is now swaying in the pandemic of Covid 19, the new coronavirus. Today, the Reiwa era has begun, it is necessary to have the ability to solve problems through the science and technology of "Wa", the spirit of harmony perceiving things in a comprehensive manner that have been cultivated in Japan, coexistence with nature from Asia and Japan, which values all things in nature, cooperation between different fields. The key to this is the power of Art Design, which creates a future social life by demonstrating sensibility, emotional creativity, and humanity to propose well-balanced problem-solving. In the future, it will be extremely important for the world to Design and build an inclusive society that accepts everyone, including SDGs/ESG for 2030. With the main theme of Nature-centered & Inclusive Society, our Design research lab. will launch new Japanese creativity in which Science and Technology and Art Design are simultaneously progressing.
