Research Interests
We are interested in a wide range of problems in materials science. Mainly, we focus on magnetic materials and superconductors and study them based on a computational method called first-principles calculations. Magnetism and superconductivity are cooperative phenomena caused by the interactioning electrons in a crystal. It is a fascinating subject reflecting interest and difficulty in condensed matter physics. At the same time, these materials are also functional materials used in science and technology that support our daily lives, such as permanent magnets, spintronics devices, and superconducting electromagnets. First-principles calculations, which require no parameters, are the key to accurately understanding these phenomena and designing materials with desired properties. By developing the methods based on first-principles calculations, we are researching to fully understand the properties of various materials and design functional materials.
