Division of Co-Creation for Inclusive Society
Inclusive society through cross-boder and co-creation
In an age of respect for diversity and declining population, operational models of university organisations that contribute to education and research through employing or working with people from diverse backgrounds, which include people of various genders, nationalities and cultures, people with disabilities, people requiring treatment and support due to illness or old age, and people who raising children or requiring nursing care are required.
The Division of Co-Creation for Inclusive Society (CCIS) aims to solve social problems through the fusion of different disciplines, and to provide a place for co-creation and research and practical activities that enable people with diverse characteristics to participate in and achieve results in world-class research and education.
The CCIS is built from five units. The (i) Culture and Arts Unit, which fosters "an organisational culture in which diversity is deeply empathised with by its members, and in which psychological safety is ensured and inclusion is ensured" based on party research and art design; the (ii) Employment and Support Systems Unit, which enables the systematic provision of professional and spot work opportunities and multifaceted, high-quality support to diverse faculty and staff without being restricted by time or location; the (iii) Advanced Inclusion Technologies Unit, which enables participation in advanced experiments and research, even from remote locations in Japan and abroad, and even when bedridden, through laboratory automation and inclusive design technologies; the (iv) Education System Unit welcomes, develops and strongly supports diverse human resources with disabilities and uneven abilities, without excluding them, through the philosophy and methods of inclusive education that encompasses disabilities and neurodiversity; the (v) Promotion of Cooperation Unit, which promotes co-production and collaboration between different fields, which were previously independent. The CCIS will establish a structure that integrates the perspectives of culture, systems and technology, with the social implementation of inclusive employment and education as a pillar.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the UTokyo Center for Coproduction of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IncluDE), the CCIS will realise new employment, education and active workplaces for diverse human resources on campus, while simultaneously promoting the resolution of social issues through social implementation in all regions of the country through the framework of regional co-creation and collaboration.
